About RTV
Riverview Television or RTV is a daily school news program written, directed, and produced purely by students. In 1992, David Dean and his drama class developed the idea of sharing school news through the medium of television. Since then, RTV has a been a fixture at Riverview Middle School and in the Huntington community.
Every morning students are exposed to information such as school announcements, club meetings, sports results, teacher messages and fun games. Students also recite the Pledge of Allegiance and take part in a moment of silence.
The Communication classes that produce RTV consist of two groups: 7th grade students who meet 3rd period and 8th grade students who meet 2nd period. During the period, students write scripts, create computer graphics, research and investigate stories, edit video on multiple devices, engineer sound, record high definition video, and work with numerous other pieces of technology.
Throughout the years, there have been several other teachers involved, including: Steve Park, Michele Santa, Tyler Oatess, and Chris Husband. RTV airs every school day at 7:20 on channel 4.
